LIGHTS OUT

did you participate in
EARTH HOUR?
Turning off all non-essential lights, between 8:30-9:30 p.m.
It was a global event.
I shut off all the lights, (Ok I kept my TV and computer on.. hey, they're essential to my sanity ok?) I lit a candle, and logged on to a Flickr group:

and watched as photos were added from east to west. It really was quite cool. Some of the photographs are very creative! so check em out! I even added the pictures I took, above.
Ahh so my Saturday is history. I slept in later than I wanted to, but still managed to get into my art room for some much needed cleaning. I was mainly focused on moving things away from the baseboards, because I have an exterminator coming on Wednesday.
I'm getting Ants in the bathroom and kitchen, and I've already seen one of the hideous, scary, creepy, crawly Silver fish.. or centipedes.. or whatever the hell they are.. EEEWWHHHHHHHHHAAAA!!!!!! ...... I had quite a few last Summer, and I refuse to deal with them again this Summer. I also got an attack of the flying Ants for about 2 weeks. The minute the sun was down, here they came. From under the baseboard on an outside wall.. 10-3--50 and more!!! My apartment is on the first floor, and also on a slab, so from what I've heard, these creepy creatures are normal.. but EWWWH I hate hate hate hate BUGS!!! My apartment is perfect accept for this "little" problem. I already sprayed all the baseboards a few times, starting last month, hoping to kill eggs etc, before they hatched or what ever the hell they do. I just don't understand. They have to whole entire world to crawl on... WHY.. WHY.. WHY!! do they want to be in MY apartment!!!?????? So.. I'm hoping the exterminator will work, and I won't see nary a one ever again! Ahhh BLISS!
So I'm watching an old movie on TMC, that I've never seen before. It's called "The Good Fairy" with Margaret O'Brien....but it's been 1/2 hour, and I haven't seen her yet! Also in the movie, is Frank Morgan... ya know, The "Wizard" from the Wizard of Oz" I'm sure after he made that movie he was type cast, because his voice is so distinctive, and actually, the character he's playing in this movie, is just like "Professor Marvel" Ok.. enough from the critic's corner.

....update:.. DUHHH... it's not Margaret O'brien, it's Margaret Sullivan..... ya. whatever.

I'm enjoying a hot steamy cup of coffee, something I don't get to have in the evenings. It will keep me up all night. Bad enough, that I have 1-2 cans of Pepsi every night. But it's Saturday, (ok officially it's really Sunday now)... and I don't care if it keeps me up. All the better, then I can watch the radar, and the rain showers move in.. (I am tooo wild!) We might even hear a few "rumbles of thunder" as the weather guy said.

Tomorrow.. (today) I plan on finishing all my other little cleaning projects (the excitement just keeps coming!) I still have to clean out under the bathroom and kitchen sinks. I'm leaving the walk-in for another weekend. (you'll just have to wait for the details).

I guess I should leave the house more, and I would have something interesting-er to talk about, besides cleaning cupboards, and price stickers stuck to my head. Ya.. ok.. I'll work on it.

I just changed channels. I'm watching "Airport 77".. They already played "75".. and next will be "Concord.. Airport 79".. I hate sequels. I hate how they beat things to death. There haven't been many that were ever as good as the originals. Only a few come to mind. Lethal Weapon 2 was good, Terminator 2 Judgement Day, Rocky 2 & 3, Die Hard 2. I guess some would name all or some of the Star wars sequels, or Lord of the Rings... but I'm not much on Si-Fi stuff so I couldn't really say. Ok.. my balcony is closed lol.

I do love old movies. the "classics" With Bette Davis, Humphrey Bogart... etc. They really don't make em like that anymore.
I grew up watching the old Black & Whites. And thanks to my mom, I can name a lot of the Silver Screen stars.

SOME OF MY MOST FAVORITE MOVIES: (Their are so many!)

1. Imitation of Life... Both versions, but I think I like the one with Lana Turner the best.
and....What a tear jerker!!
2. A tree grows in Brooklyn...Sweet and tender. I've always loved Dorothy McGuire, Lloyd Nolan and Peggy Ann Garner
3. All That Heaven Allows...Cheesy lines, and I want to smack her kids! Jane Wyman & Rock Hudson.
4. What Ever Happened To Baby Jane... Awesome! Classic Bette Davis & Joan Crawford.
5. The Bad Seed... This one would definitely be on my TOP TEN of all time! Over the Top acting, but so so fun! Pattie McCormack & Nancy Kelly. If you've never seen it WHY???.. rent the movie, and get your daughter (or niece, or neighbor kid) and some popcorn, and enjoy! I have my own copy and my niece Sahra and her brother would MAKE me put the movie in, almost every time they visited.

*****IT'S THUNDERING!!!!!....COOOL!!!!*****
Anyway.. just soo many good movies! I think I'll go dig through my VHS collection.. ( I started buying old VHS movies on Ebay because they're cheaper, and my VCR still works!)... and pop something in, since the coffee now has me wired! Ahhh.. maybe "ICE PALACE" Excellent movie! With Richard Burton & Robert Ryan.
....OH WAIT... "Roman Holiday" is on TMC now!... I love Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck!

****THE RAIN HAS BEGUN!!!...AND MORE THUNDER!!! YESSSSS!********

I've shut the lights off, and opened the blinds, and the window just a bit, so I can hear the rain, and watch the lightning! awesome!
Brunswick, Ohio, is where that tiny little X is.. I'm just about 25 miles south of Cleveland.
OK.. just a little obsessive.. I'd better stop for now. Making a note:... must get out more.. must get out more... must get out more...
Have a Happy Sunday, and let's pray it goes slow!

JUST $4.00

It was really, really slow at work today.
So, when they asked if anyone wanted to leave early.. my hand flew up, with out hesitation ...(who needs money anyway right?)... So.. I was one of the chosen ones! and I got to leave at just past noon. Yayyy!!!! All the way to my car, I was trying to decide what I wanted to do with my new found freedom. Shop? Clean? Nap? Blog? Eat?... Well, I decide to be "good" and just go home. I remembered that I still hadn't replaced the 3-way light bulb in the dining area, and the dim light was driving me crazy. OK, just a quick stop at BIG LOTS (our local buy-out store).. then home. So, I decided It would be OK just to look around for a bit. I was in the store for about 45 minutes.. OK.. yes.. I'm a browser! I got my light bulb and indulged myself with some "Dove dark chocolate Easter Eggs (with Almonds!..OMG!) I decided to leave before I was tempted to buy "just one more little thing." I got to the check out, and was greeted by the young man behind the counter, "how are you today?".. "I'm good thanks, how are you?".. he rang me up, I paid, "thanks, have a nice day"... "you too, thanks." So, I headed for the door, proud that I had only spent a few bucks. I headed toward my car, got out my keys, and caught my reflection in the car window. WHAT IS THAT???... Something was in my hair!.. I reached up, and grabbed it... it was a bright Orange BIG LOTS $4.00 price sticker, stuck to the side of my head! For a brief second, I thought the wind had blown it there... but wait.. how?.. OMG.. it happened in the store! how long was it there?... and WHY DIDN'T THE LITTLE CLERK GUY TELL ME???? LOL.. My hair is short and dark, and I'm sure anyone looking would have seen it! I laughed all the way home! So.. I guess that's me, a $4.00 buy-out. oh well.

You know you're addicted to BLOGGING when:
1. You can't wait to rush home, and write about a dumb story like the one above.
2. You go out to eat, you take a picture of your food, so can show all your Blog friends what you had.
3. You also take pictures of the giant Margarita, and the cute Mexican waiter who served it to you.
4. You take pictures of inanimate objects like an egg timer, Pepsi can or Scissors, and post them because you think they look "Artsy."
5. You write in great detail, about cleaning out your closets, and try to make it sound colorful and interesting.
6. You see any change in the weather as a photo opportunity, and Blog worthy.
7. You spend 1/2 hour, recreating the "Big Lots" price sticker, that was lodged in your hair, and wish you had saved the "real" one to post on your Blog.
8. You imagine your Blogger buddies reading the "TOP TEN" list and laughing at you!
9. You struggle for 20 minutes, trying to think of 2 more things to list on the 'TOP TEN" list.
10. You think you're pretty clever for thinking up a "YOU KNOW YOU'RE ADDICTED TO BLOGGING" list.

... Im sooo glad I got out early from work and was able to use the free time so productively!

ANOTHER MONDAY IN THE BOOKS...

Well, ok.. I have nothing interesting to say.
I'm just bored. I'm watching the clock tick by... till I am forced to go to bed against my will.

I'm glad another Monday is behind me. I woke up Monday morning to the sound of my alarm clock, and the phone simultaneously ringing!!! In my stupor, I could not figure out which was which! I hit the alarm, and couldn't figure out why the "noise" wouldn't stop! I finally answered the phone, it was my son Eddie, who calls me (or I call him ) every morning. As always, it was a brief conversation.. "morning".. "how are you ".. he said he woke up and couldn't figure out if it was the weekend, or if he had to go to work!.. ME TOO! I hate that. Wracking my brain, "What day is it?".. "do I have work?" it's especially confusing, because I do work some weekends.
Blah.. Blahh.. Blahhhhhh.. So I was just talking to daughter Jamie. She is has a court appointment tomorrow, and is getting nervous. She was in a small car accident 2 1/2 years ago. And she has to go in for a deposition.... did I say that right?.. I'm not to saavy on my legal lingo! Anyway, She's reading all the 'dos & don'ts".. "do.. dress conservatively" "don't embellish" "do speak clearly".... and on and on. She was hit by an older woman, and her car was pretty messed up. Anyway, she just wants the whole thing to be over with. I can't believe they drag these things out so long!
I also talked to my baby daughter, Allison. She is excited, because she is considering taking a job at The Cleveland Clinic. She's a nurse, and has spent the first 3 years of her career at University Hospital, which, up till recently she was pretty happy at. But she's ready for a change. Tired of rotations, and long hours. She also invited me to come help plant flowers. She just bought her first house last August, and is anxious to make it look "homey" I told her I would "watch" as she planted, I hate worms.. ughhhhhh.. ! LOL.. I also told her she needed to wait till Mid May to plant, once the danger of frost had passed. So that will be fun.

I've started planning my Easter dinner menu. It will be the same as it always is. A buffet, with all the traditional foods. Ham, Potato salad, Deviled eggs. Allison will make meatballs this year. I usually do, but hers were so good at Christmas time, I passed the honors on to her. So, It will be me, my kids and friends Laure, her son Kyle and Gloria. Maybe family too. I used to invite all my sisters and their kids.. but it just got way too crazy, and I needed a break.

Ok.. now that I've bored you to tears, and you're left wondering "who cares?" .. lol.. I will stop.
and get to bed "early" (for me).

We have thunderstorms forecast for Wednesday! yay! I love a good storm.

I hope to have something more interesting for you the next time you visit!
Have a good week.

IT'S SPRING!

YIPPEEEE!!!!!
It's finally
S P R I N G!

And I'm excited! As I write at 1:17 a.m, we're having light Snow flurries. But I'm not letting them get me down...because Spring arrives today. And I know that snow will eventually.. (soon please) give way to warm breezes, and Flowers!
So... enjoy your Spring!

Here, is the post on our local weather channel, WKYC Channel 3 website. Some interesting facts about SPRING.

The Greater Cleveland area made it through another winter and folks are rejoicing as they hope the need for snow shovels and boots can soon be replaced by flip flops and short sleeved shirts.
Spring will officially arrive on Friday at 7:44 a.m.
Each year, spring comes in between the 19th to the 23rd of March and at different times. It changes on a yearly basis because the first official day of spring is the (Spring) Vernal EQUINOX.
This is when the sun is directly above the equator. It rises due East and sets due West and does not do so on the exact same day every year since the calendar is not exactly 365 precise days every single year.
Modern astronomy aside, people have recognized the vernal equinox for thousands of years. There is no shortage of rituals and traditions surrounding the coming of spring. Many early peoples celebrated for the basic reason that their food supplies would soon be restored. The date is significant in Christianity because Easter always falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the vernal equinox. It is also probably no coincidence that early Egyptians built the Great Sphinx that it points directly toward the rising Sun on the day of the vernal equinox. The first day of spring also marks the beginning of Nowurz, the Persian New Year. The celebration lasts 13 days and is rooted in the 3,000-year-old tradition of Zorastrianism.

SPRING CLEANING

HAPPY ST. PATTY'S DAY!

I'm not Irish...but I've heard we all are... a little, on St. Patrick's Day. I will wear a green shirt, just to avoid hearing the people at work ask "where's your Green?"

I'm excited, that Spring will officially arrive on Friday!
Even though that means nothing in this area, because we can still see more snow this time of year, and even into late April.
Still, It's refreshing, that it is getting warmer, the days are getting longer.. and I feel myself becoming rejuvenated! Ahhh.

I've started Spring cleaning. I managed to get the front closet cleaned out. There were boxes with "stuff" that really never got unpacked, since I moved in last May.

Now, my Christmas tree, laying on my bedroom floor, trying to find a home. (is this good reading or what?) I've taken the door off the walk-in closet, after it dawned on me that the door opened IN to the closet, thus making it almost impossible to get anything that was behind the door... one of the reasons the Christmas decorations are in my bedroom closet now.

So... the big walk-in is my BIG project. I'm cringing at the thought of taking EVERYTHING out, (just look at that mess!) and putting it in a more organized fashion. That will be a whole day's work. ugh.
I am also excited that I'm going to be getting new carpeting in the living/dining room. (it doesn't take much to make me happy!) It was old, with a few stains when I moved in, and I tried to "live with it" but I just can't! So I called the leasing office.. and they said yep! So I will be getting new carpet next month. I haven't been feeling very "arty" lately. Something that seems to be affecting other artists (I read about some, on the comments on "Tumble Fish Studio's blog!) But that's ok. I'm just focused on other things right now. Not to mention that my art room is is need of a Spring cleaning too.

OHHHH! and the really BIG EXCITING NEWS! My "E-Friend" Teri, will be coming for a visit in June!!!! She lives in Indiana.
She and I met at Ebay, in 2002? when she bought a few paintings from me. I bought some of her pottery, and we've been good "E-friends" ever since! How fun it will to hang out for a whole weekend!!! So, that's another good reason to get my apartment looking good!

Ok... so that's all the exciting news from Brunswick, Ohio.
I will post pictures of my walk-in closet when it's done... NOW WONT THAT BE SUPER EXCITING??????? try and contain yourself till then!

Go have a green beer.. and have a great rest of the week.

YOUTH

Well.. sorry to the 2-3 people who actually make a point to stop in and catch up on my blog, that I haven't been posting much lately. I've still been obsessed with the Old neighborhood group on facebook. Old friends keep popping up , or a "new" old photo gets added.

So I thought I'd share an oldie with you... my Senior high school picture!... I didn't know I was ever cute.. I was.. a little .. wasn't I? When did cute leave? and middle age show up. And worse.. according to my sister Rita.. unless I'm planning on living to be over 100.. middle age has also gone on it's merry way.

Wow. It was just yesterday.... I was going steady with Ed.. (my now Ex-husband) We scheduled our Senior pictures for the same day. "Smart Set" photography studio, was just literally around the corner from his house. I wore a Mint Green short sleeved sweater, and a Silver necklace, that I made Ed buy me. It was $6. I was also wearing a pale Mint Green eye shadow too. I was thankful that the humidity was down.. and my hair didn't "frizz up".. as it normally did in the Summer. I remember being so excited, that I was having this "special" picture taken. It meant that I had made my way through 12 years of school.. ( I never went to kindergarten!.. really!) and I got to have my picture in the Yearbook.. South High School Class of 1975... wow.
I remember the photographer telling me to lick my lips to give them a little shine... (I don't think I wore lipstick that day!) I also remember him telling me my mouth was crooked.. hey thanks!.. one more flaw!

Anyway.....flash forward to 2009.. I have been out of school for 34 years.. OMG OMG OMG.. WHATTTT???????????...I have been happily divorced 24 years, I have 3 wonderful children, a great family and the most amazing friends. A job I hate. but I'm greatful to be employed. I'm finally in an apartment that I love.
Here I am 34 years since that picture was taken. Not so cute.. not so wide eyed... but blessed, content and very happy.
